Square Mile carried out significant upgrades to the City of London’s Walbrook Wharf fire safety systems. The project encompassed the installation of linear heat detection systems throughout vehicle areas, four networked fire alarm panels and comprehensive rewiring of the building. Additionally, an electric vehicle (EV) shutdown charging facility was implemented, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and modernisation.
- Heat detection systems for vehicle areas
- 4 Networked fire alarm panels installed
- Rewiring throughout the building
Our primary objectives of the project were to enhance fire safety by improving detection and response capabilities, particularly in high-risk vehicle areas; modernise the building's electrical infrastructure through comprehensive rewiring for increased reliability and compliance with safety standards, and support sustainable practices by integrating a dedicated EV shutdown charging facility.
The project implementation carried out by Square Mile Fire & Security at Walbrook Wharf included the strategic installation of linear heat detection systems in all vehicle areas to provide early fire warnings, and the setup of four networked fire alarm panels for comprehensive coverage and centralised monitoring, ensuring swift emergency response. The building's electrical system underwent a thorough rewiring to replace outdated components, enhancing efficiency and safety in line with regulatory standards. Additionally, an EV shutdown charging facility was installed to support sustainable transportation, enabling safe and efficient electric vehicle charging and highlighting a commitment to sustainability, encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles.
Effective planning and stakeholder engagement were crucial for the successful implementation of the upgrades. Adaptability in addressing unforeseen challenges ensured project continuity.
The upgrades at Walbrook Wharf reflect a proactive approach to enhancing fire safety, modernising infrastructure, and promoting sustainable practices. By integrating advanced technologies and adhering to rigorous standards, the project mitigated risks and positioned the facility for long-term efficiency and safety.
